Lack of Hunger & Thirst Has Weakened the Church

The reason many in the body of Christ are so uncomfortable with the term revival is that they are so unfamiliar with it.

Some have most certainly never witnessed a genuine, God-ordained, Holy Spirit-fueled, culture-transforming revival in our country. No wonder the body of Christ here in America doesn’t know what it looks like or how to recognize it when it comes.

I need to define what I mean by revival. A revival is when the church, the body of Christ, the band of born-again believers, gets right. Repentance is the language of revival and is, in fact, the essential ingredient because revival begins at the house of God. In order for something to be re-vived, it must first be -vived, if you will. Revival is a necessary precursor to a culture-shaking awakening that changes the moral climate of our cities and the impact is felt like shock waves across the social spectrum of a region, a nation, or the world.

My friend, Pastor Tony Suarez, is no stranger to revival. He has lived in it, breathed it, demonstrated it, prayed for it, and experienced it all his life. He knows what it looks like and what it can do. He also knows when it is not present and how far much of the church has declined as a result of not hungering and thirsting for it. He understands that revival is not supposed to be an event or an activity as much as it is a lifestyle and an everyday outcome of the Holy Spirit operating in and through His people.

For far too long, far too many have been content with church as usual. In the meantime, hospitals are full while church buildings are empty, and taverns are open while churches are closed. People who have faith in God are vilified while people who have no faith in anything but themselves are glorified.

Pastor Suarez recognizes this, and has issued a clear and confident call, not just to assent or agreement, but to action. Every believer can and must respond. The hour is late, and the need is greater than ever. Multitudes are in the valley of decision, and they need guidance from another world to help them find their way out of the dilemmas they face. The answers will not come from the right or the left, from tired religious dogmas or from anything-goes nihilist tendencies. God has already provided the answer in the form of a great multitude of men and women who are not afraid and not ashamed to display their dedication to God and to their fellow man by fearless acts of courage and love.

RevivalMakers is an unmistakable call to action. Men and women of God, step forward, step up, and step out to make a difference in your world in this hour and for eternity.
