Activation: Your Spiritual Senses For Accessing The Courts Of Heaven
Many people struggle with functionally operating in the Courts of Heaven. They think they have to be some special person with special prophetic gifting. This is not true.
After years of teaching and functioning in the Courts of Heaven, I have come to the conclusion that operating in the Courts of Heaven is for everyone regardless of their prophetic strength or gifting. It is true that certain gifted people can help, but they are not necessary. In some of my earlier books, I inadvertently left the idea that someone needed a seer gift to be able to function on a high level before the Courts of Heaven. I no longer believe this. This would put many people at a disadvantage and would exalt the seeing gift to a level of importance that is not good. Anything that makes us dependent for our breakthrough on a certain person or people is not spiritually healthy. Believing and learning that God has made each of us with the capabilities that we need for our breakthrough is essential. If I think that I need someone else other than Jesus to help me find my miracle then I have the wrong perspective. I probably have developed a spiritual laziness that I need to overcome to be able to function in the Courts of Heaven. I could have just concluded that it is beyond me and therefore I need someone to do it for me. I do believe that it can be helpful for people to agree together. Obviously this is biblical. Matthew 18:19 clearly tell us that there is power in us joining our hearts and faith with others.
Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
We can and should be a part of joining with others in prayer. However, when I believe that there is something I cannot access without a given kind of person, this is wrong thinking. I have concluded that if there is something off limits to me because I don’t have access to a prophetically gifted person, this would be unfair. Either the blood of Jesus makes these realms accessible or it doesn’t. I am certain that it does. We all can by faith step into the Courts and have audience before the Judge of All.
“Either the blood of Jesus makes these realms accessible or it doesn’t. I am certain that it does.”
As I looked and considered this whole scenario, I found something else very interesting. As much as I was impressed initially with these high-powered seer gifts, I discovered I got more breakthrough doing things by faith. To me this is the acid test. Does anything change in the natural realm from what we are doing in the spiritual realm? I watched as these seer gifts saw angels, the cloud of witnesses, and other heavenly action taking place in connection to Courtroom operation. The problem was nothing changed after it was all over. I knew something wasn’t working correctly. I started just doing things by faith in the Courts of Heaven. To my amazement, breakthroughs came. I was getting more substantial results through doing things out of faith than all the high-powered prophetic people were able to bring. Let me be clear here. I am not against seers, prophetic people, and their operation. They are a needed part of the body of Christ. I just believe we tend to exalt them out of measure at times. Instead of spending time developing our own relationship and abilities in the Lord, we run to these. This can never take the place of our own operation by faith before the Lord.
So what is the secret to functioning before the Courts of Heaven and seeing prayers answered and results revealed? I want to give us some ideas. The first thing is that nothing can replace a history with God. Many people want to approach the Courts of Heaven as a new, novel way of praying that magically gets results. This idea will backfire on us and not produce what we are looking for. As Jesus taught on prayer in a judicial system in Luke 18:1-8, He unveiled some a secret to getting decisions rendered for us. In particular in verses 6-8 Jesus makes statements that show a powerful truth we must embrace.
Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Jesus says that God as the ultimate Judge of all the earth would render decisions for His elect. We’ve already seen this earlier. However, it bears repeating. The Courts of Heaven is for us as His believers. It is the place where we find relief from demonic assault based on legal claims of the devil. This Court is designed to take satan and his forces before the bench of heaven and see all Jesus has done set in place against them. We are the elect and chosen of God. Notice that these elect cry out day and night. This means they have the history with God I have spoken of. They are not approaching the Courts of Heaven with the idea that it’s a formula or method they can get breakthrough from. They have a habitual life of prayer that grants them status in the heavenlies. They cry out day and night! The truth is that most people do not have this. David said before the Lord in Psalms 5:1-3 that his voice would perpetually be heard before the Lord in the morning.
Give ear to my words, O Lord,
Consider my meditation.
Give heed to the voice of my cry,
My King and my God,
For to You I will pray.
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord;
In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.
David made a commitment to the Lord that every morning his voice would be heard before the Lord. Notice that he would look up. There is something that allows faith to arise when we habitually come before the Lord day and night. There is an igniting of faith that will stir in our heart. Plus it gives us a history with God. God knows our voice. David declared that his voice would be heard before the Lord. There are two words that characterized David’s voice as he cried out to the Lord in the morning. First David said give ear to my words. This word word in the Hebrew is emer. It means something said, an answer. David is saying that as his voice is heard before the Lord, it will be him answering the Lord. We must understand that prayer is our response to the moving of the Spirit of the Lord. When I pray, I depend on the unction of the Holy Spirit. I am praying out of His strength and power. If we think that prayer is something we initiate, then we have yet to understand the power of it. Real prayer is that which is moving through us by the Spirit of God. We are answering with our words that which heaven is originating. This is what makes prayer so rewarding and significant. The other word that David spoke of was meditation. It is the Hebrew word hagiyg. It means to murmur, a musing. This is same word that is used in Joshua 1:8 when God told Joshua he should meditate on the law of the Lord day and night.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
He was to speak the word of God over his life day and night. He was to murmur it to himself. This is the only place we’re given the right to murmur. We get to murmur the Word of the Lord to ourselves and to God. When we do this, we are developing a history with God. Our voice is being heard in heaven. We are meeting the criteria that Jesus laid out for the elect. We are crying out to the Lord day and night.
The scripture in Luke says that if we cry to Him day and night as the Judge, He will avenge us speedily. Quick and speedy decisions are made in our favor when we have a status with God because our voice has been heard. We must develop this place with the Lord. We must by faith spend time in His presence and allow our words to be heard as we answer the moving of the Spirit of God and murmur back His word over us. The thing that got my attention concerning the Courts of Heaven was how quick the answer came. Years of praying had caused nothing to occur. As I shared previously, however, when I stepped by faith into the Courts of Heaven under the leading of the Holy Spirit, an immediate breakthrough occurred. I asked someone who had an awareness of the Courts of Heaven why this happened to me and others seemed to struggle to get answers even from the Courts. Their response to me was revealing. They said, “Because you had done the work.” I considered their response and thought this is exactly what Jesus said. If we have cried to Him day and night, we have spent time in His presence doing the work. There is no substitute for this. I do not want this to discourage anyone who perhaps hasn’t been faithful to do this. My admonition would be to start now. God will honor your faith, your obedience, and your commitment. He will see from heaven and reward you openly. This is the promise of His Word.
“There is no substitute for doing the work.”
When I speak of doing things by faith in the Courts of Heaven, what I mean is I take God at His word. I see in the Word of God the places, principles, and practices connected to the Courts of Heaven. Therefore, I set my heart and movements to step into these. I trust that as I move the Holy Spirit is going to help my weaknesses. This is what He has promised to do. This is what has perpetually and consistently been my experience. When I am uncertain and even afraid, the Holy Spirit has come to my rescue and empowered me. The Lord loves when we put our confidence in Him in our places of weakness. As we by faith step into these places, we must know that we are more prophetic than we might have imagined. Sometimes we glamorize these prophetically gifted people. We almost deify them as if they are not human. The truth is they are very much flesh and blood. We must know though that to compare ourselves to them and their gifting doesn’t work anything good into us. II Corinthians 10:12 tells us not to do this!
For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
If we allow ourselves to get pulled into this whole scenario of seeking to be the greatest, it doesn’t produce anything good. We are not to be measuring ourselves by the gift someone else carries. We are to be thankful for the gifts we have and develop and use them. This is what I have come to be aware of. I don’t need to be someone else. I need to be Robert Henderson and release the gifting that God gave me. This is what will build up the body of Christ and make room for me. It is true for you as well. Quit trying to be what someone else is and be freed to be you. There are gifts in you that are necessary to your future and to bless others. Quit being so impressed with what someone else is that you can’t see who you are!
With this said, we should realize that if the Holy Spirit dwells in us we have a prophetic nature. This is because the Holy Spirit by nature is prophetic. John 16:13 tells us that the Holy Spirit will speak what He hears and tell us prophetically what is coming.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
This scripture lets us know that the Holy Spirit will create within us a prophetic nature and abilities. If we have the Spirit dwelling in us, that means we have prophetic capabilities. One of the reasons we don’t operate in these realms is because we haven’t taken the time and effort to develop them. Any gift we receive is in seed form. It is up to us to cultivate, grow, and steward it into greatness. Hebrews 5:14 tells us that we have spiritual senses just like we have natural senses. We have to learn to use them so that we can function effectively in the spirit world.
But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
The senses spoken of here are prophetic abilities. Just like we have fives natural senses of touch, taste, smell, hearing, and sight, we also have at least five correlating spiritual senses. We use our natural senses to function in the natural world. We are to use these spiritual senses to function in the unseen world. This is imperative as we seek to function in the Courts of Heaven. We should be open to operating in all these senses. One or two may be stronger than the others, but all are for us. For instance, I tend to feel (touch) and hear more than the other three. I definitely see at times and have smelled and tasted as well. When I am seeking to operate in the Courts of Heaven, I open myself by faith to these awarenesses. I pay attention to thoughts that come into my spirit/brain. I pay attention to images that might develop in my mind. I pay attention to the way I am feeling and the words those feelings produce. I pay attention even to smells that are not connected to my surroundings. I pay attention even to tastes that I would have in my mouth. These can all be impressions from the Holy Spirit and help us maneuver in the spirit world, but especially the Courts of Heaven.
Notice that these are developed through the effort of using them. This is where we must shake free from spiritual laziness and even lies we have believed. The devil tries to come and plant lies in your heart that you can’t do this. If that were true then the Word of God is not true. We have received the Spirit of the Lord and have an anointing. This will empower us to navigate in the unseen realm of the Courts of Heaven. I may not visit heaven. I may not see angels. I may not encounter the cloud of witnesses. However, I can take the gifts given me and the grace of God associated with them and operate in the Courts of Heaven. I can present cases in the Courts and see breakthroughs come. All that Jesus has done and is doing is working on my behalf. The Holy Spirit is helping me. I have been granted entrance into His Courts by His blood. I refuse to allow the lies of the devil keep me away from a place that is rightfully mine. I want to encourage you to do the same. Let faith arise in your heart. All that you need, you already have. Believe it and step into the Courts of Heaven and present your case!
“Spiritual senses are developed through the effort of using them.”
As I come and stand before Your Courts, Lord, I ask that I might move by faith before You. I ask for the help of the Holy Spirit to empower me as I present my case before You. You are no respecter of persons. You do not show partiality. Whoever works righteousness and sets their heart to do Your will, You, Lord, will receive. Thank You for helping me in my weakness as I present my case before You by faith. I take up my place granted me by the blood of Jesus. In Jesus’ Name, amen
