My 2-Year-Old Resurrected a Plant

One sunny California morning, I went outside under the patio to water my potted plants, which included some tomatoes, snow peas and a green pepper tree. Unfortunately, my past experience as a gardener hadn’t been the greatest, as I would often see my plants die. This morning when I went out, I was again confronted with this heartbreaking reality. The green pepper tree that I had planted had shriveled up a day or two earlier and now it was basically two dry sticks. Slightly annoyed, I stopped watering it and only watered the other plants around it.While I was spraying the other plants, suddenly my two- and-a-half-year-old, Zeke, emerged from inside the house. He walked out, and without saying anything he squatted in front of the little plant that had shriveled up. Then he proceeded to stretch out his little hand like some Jedi warrior from Star Wars toward the dried up pepper tree.

Still holding the hose towards the other plants, I looked in wonder at my little man. “What is he doing? Is he praying for the plant?” After about 10 to 15 seconds of bending down arm stretched out, he popped up and walked off. In shock, I turned and said to him, “Hey Z, did you just pray for that plant?” I had never modeled praying for plants or taught him anything about anything like this. As only a little two-year-old can do, Zeke turned, look at me, and said, “Yeah,” then jogged away.

One week later the little green pepper tree came back to life, and in the coming weeks it grew two green peppers! We celebrated God‘s goodness and how he used our little boy, despite never going to a school of supernatural ministry!
