Prophetic Number Guide: What Do These Numbers Mean?

This easy-to-use reference guides to strengthen your prophetic skill set with these numbers that preach and their meanings.

1 – Unity

This number also has to do with Superiority, Priority, Beginnings, and God Himself.

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV) – In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

John 1:1 (NKJV) – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 – A Faithful Witness and Being Set Apart

This number also has to do with manifest power, testimony, being made separate, and godly division.

In the negative, it tends to represent what believers should be separate from and a witness to.

Words that only appear twice throughout the entire Word of God tend to be associated with things the Word is a witness against or separated from.

Revelation 11:3 (NKJV) – And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.

3 – Perfect Completion

This number illustrates fullness and being complete. Three is the resurrection and the number God stamps on divinity.

Exodus 19:11 (NKJV) – “…For on the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.”

Luke 24:46 (NKJV) – Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day.”

4 – Creation and Things That Are Made

This number has to do with things that are made. Four is the “world” number—the number God stamps on things that have to do with “all the world” within His creations.

In the negative, it represents worldliness and worldly systems.

Words that occur four times in Scripture: lost, thin, afflicted, ignorance, fault, wages

Matthew 24:14 (NKJV) – And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then the end will come.

5 – The Grace of God

Five also has to do with the favor of God. It is the number that marks the place where God gives us the ability to overcome something.

Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV) – For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.

6 – The Flesh of Man

This number also has to do with man’s opposition to God and man’s pitiful stance against God.

Romans 6:6 (NKJV) – Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

7 – The Spirit of God

The number 7 marks where God is doing something by His Spirit apart from any other source. It is the number that marks His rest and where He rules over all things created. Seven is perfection of Spirit.

Deuteronomy 28:7 (NKJV) – The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face;  they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

Matthew 18:21-22 (NKJV) – Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.”

8 – New Beginnings

Eight is the number God uses to illustrate resurrection. It has to do with new birth, new life, and new creation.

Revelation 21:5 (NKJV) – Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.”

9 – Fruit Bearing

Nine represents the Spirit bearing fruit and forward progression. Examples of 9 in Scripture as Fruit Bearing:

  • A woman is pregnant for 9 months before giving birth to new life.

  • Life is a great gift as John 3:16 declares.

  • There are 9 gifts of the Spirit made manifest when God’s judgment is life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

  • Jesus Christ died on the cross at the 9th hour and would become the firstfruits of the resurrected.

1 Corinthians 15:20 (NKJV) – But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

9 – In the negative means Judgment, with emphasis on the judgment being by the Spirit of God

All forms of the word “death” appear 999 times in the Bible.

There are 9 biblical sieges of Jerusalem.

In Haggai chapter 1, God’s judgment is poured out upon 9 different things.

10 – Perfect Order

This number has to do with timelines and how God carries out a plan in perfect order.

Deuteronomy 4:13 (NKJV) – He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.

11 – Heroes Rising

Eleven stands out as marking where God recognizes the faithfulness of people. Eleven is associated with valor and notable acts of selfless service.

11 – In the negative means Disorder. The number 11 represents judgment, with an emphasis on the disorder.

Jeremiah 11:11 (NKJV) – Therefore thus says the Lord: “Behold, I will surely bring calamity on them which they will not be able to escape; and though they cry out to Me, I will not listen to them.”

It’s not the numbers people need to see but the Word of God that the numbers point to. God is preaching through the number 11; and when He does, He usually tells us we are out of order and out from under His protection.

Any person, government, or any part of a person’s life that is not under King Jesus as the head is out of order. It’s all about vertical alignment.

Judgment, Disorder, and the United States

There have been many 11s stamped on national American tragedies throughout our history:

  • On 11/11/1778, loyalists to England and local Indians massacred 42 American settlers at Cherry Valley, New York. It sent our fledgling nation into shock.

  • President Lincoln’s final public speech was given on April 11, 1865, just 3 days before his assassination.

  • But there is no greater 11 associated with American tragedies than that of 9/11.

12 – Perfect Government

Twelve is the last of 4 numbers God uses to show His perfection. It’s the number that shows God is in control and actively ruling over something as King.

Matthew 26:53 (NKJV) – Do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?

13 – Rebellion

Thirteen is the number most closely associated with apostasy.

Genesis 13:13 (NKJV) – But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord.

14 – Generational Promises and the Fear of the Lord

The fear of the Lord is to love what God loves and hate what He hates. This number points to the Spirit made manifest.

Matthew 1:17 (NKJV) – So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.

15 – Rest and Overcoming Death

Fifteen is 3 x 5. Three represents “perfect completion,” and 5 represents “grace” or “God-given ability to overcome something.”

Hezekiah cried to the Lord and was given 15 years more years to live, so he overcame death and God delivered him from his enemy.

2 Kings 20:6 (NKJV) – I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake, and for the sake of My servant David.

16 – The Love of God

All new beginnings happen because of the love of God. Sixteen is the number God uses to identify His love toward us.

John 3:16 (NKJV) – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

17 – Overcoming Victory

It’s the number given to those who overcome. Just like that, the number 34 (17 x 2) is when God manifests His overcoming power.

1 John 5:4-5 (NKJV) – For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

18 – Life More Abundantly

Eighteen is the number that represents life in Christ for the believer-multiplying life.

In the negative – The Bondage of Sin.

In the negative, the number 18 (3 x 6 or “man, man, man”) is associated very closely with the Flesh.

Matthew 18:18 (NKJV) – Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

19 – Faith

There are 19 examples of faith in Hebrews 11, and faith comes by hearing.

Zacchaeus encountered Jesus and believed:

  • Luke 19:9-10 (NKJV) – And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

  • Acts 19:4-5 (NKJV) – Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

20 – Expectancy and Redemption

Twenty is the number associated with hopeful waiting, expectancy fulfilled, and God bringing redemption into broken places.

Jude 1:20-21 (NIV) – But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

21 – Manifest Spirit

Twenty-one is the number formed from 7 x 3. When the Spirit (7) has perfectly completed (3) His work, everything is seen for what it really is.

John 3:21 (NKJV) – But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.

22 – Personal Revelation

There are 22 chapters in the book of Revelation. Light is used 22 times in the Gospel of John. Jesus is the Light of that world.

In the negative, 22 is the product of 11 x 2; sometimes 22 can mean a witness or manifestation of disorder.

Revelation 22:8 (NKJV) – Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

23 – Being in the Presence of God:

It’s the number formed from 10 + 13. In the negative, it’s how God brings His perfect order to man’s rebellion: judgment of death through the Law. In the positive, it’s associated with being in the pres- ence of God.

Jeremiah 23:23 (NIV) – “Am I only a God nearby,” declares the Lord, “and not a God far away?”

So when God wants to tell us His presence is very near to us, He uses the number 23 to proclaim it.

23 - In the negative – Death.

Romans 1:28-32 (KJV) – And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death….

These 23 things listed here, by the judgment of the Lord, lead to DEATH.

24 – Perfect Government Made Manifest

Twenty-four is the product of 12 x 2 and is connected with God governing something. (See my notes on the number 12 for more information.)

Many other works and websites say some people attribute the num- ber 24 to intercession and prayer. That makes sense when you line up with the priests and the elders.

There are 24 priests in 1 Chronicles 24. There are 24 elders in Revelation.

The 24 divisions of priests (1 Chronicles 24:1-9) and cantors (1 Chronicles 25:9-31).

There are 24 chapters in the Gospel of Luke.

Luke 24:44 (NKJV) – Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”

Encircled and Protected

There is a pattern connected to being encircled and protected. Perhaps guarded and watched over.

  • The world is 24,000-plus miles around.

  • There are 24 hours in a day.

  • Interesting fact: there are 37 recorded miracles of Jesus and exactly 24 cures.

25 – Grace for Grace

Twenty-five is the number of grace (5) multiplied by 5 (5 x 5). Twenty-five means God will perform the things He gave you grace for.

John 1:16-17 (NKJV) – And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

26 – Beloved

The number 26 has to do with messianic bloodlines and King David. In the book Song of Solomon, written by King David’s son, the word beloved is found exactly 26 times. The name David actually means “beloved.” It is the number of generations from David to Christ. It is the numerical value of the name of God in Hebrew. It is the sum of the Hebrew letters yod, he, waw, and he, giving us the name YHWH, 10+5+6+5=26.

Song of Solomon 6:3 (NKJV) – I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.

27 – Things Unveiled and Revealed in God’s Presence, and Light of Truth

Twenty-seven is 3 to the third power (3 x 3 x 3). It is the revelation of all things Jesus. His candlestick burns bright, and He will not remove it because we will not leave our first love. Progressive revelation and light of truth are connected with 27.

Matthew 17:2,5 (NKJV) – And He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. …Behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”

28 – Times and Seasons

Twenty-eight is the number associated with the beginning and the end of certain God-given timelines. Ecclesiastes chapter 3 lists 28 times and seasons for every purpose under Heaven.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) – To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

  • Twenty-eight times, the word weeks appears; a measure of time.

  • The phrase “day and night” appears exactly 28 times throughout Scripture.

  • There are 28 days in a lunar month.

  • The word cross appears exactly 28 times in the Bible.

Matthew 28:20 (KJV) – …and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

29 – Mountains

Since mountains are associated with hearing God speak and the voice of the Lord, the number 29 is also associated with those themes. It could have to do with instruction from the Lord as well, but it definitely has to do with mountains. There are 29 mountains in the Bible.

Revelation 21:10 (NKJV) – And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

30 – Acts of Redemption and Accomplishing Priestly Service

When there is a Kingdom venture, when Heaven is beginning to transform the earth, God likes to stamp the number 30 on it. When somebody is serving the Lord in a very significant way, God seems to stamp the number 30 on it.

Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 silver coins. Amazingly, not only was this the price for a prime servant (Leviticus 27:1-7), it was a fulfillment of prophecy (Zechariah 11:12).

Matthew 26:14-15 (NKJV) – Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.
