Bloodline Curses: 4 Signs You’re Under Attack & How to Break Free

One of the main things people experience when there are cases against them from their bloodline is curses operating.

Curses are spiritual forces that are allowed to sabotage our lives. They stop us from coming to success and fulfilling the purposes of God. We are told in Proverbs 26:2 that a curse cannot attach itself to us without a right or cause.

Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow,

So a curse without cause shall not alight.

Curses are described here as birds looking for a place to land and put their feet down. This would say that there are spiritual forces examining our life, looking for legal rights to affect and bring ruin to us. The legal right is usually found in our bloodline. If we are to take away the legal right of a curse, we have to deal with the bloodline issues. Otherwise, curses will operate and bring ruin to us from our ancestral issues.

Let me give some insight into recognizing if there are curses that have claimed a legal right against us. Some of this understanding was gained because of what I walked through myself. I discovered truths about curses that helped me undo them from the Courts of Heaven. First of all, curses are designed to weaken us. This is why Balak, the King of Moab, asked Balaam to curse the children of Israel. In Numbers 22:6, we see the king desiring to see a curse operating against Israel so they can be defeated.

Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.

Notice that the reason Balak desired Israel to be cursed was because he knew he couldn’t defeat them without it working against them. This is the reason why satan desires curses to legally work against us. He knows without a curse against us we are unbeatable. Remember that 1 John 4:4 tells us that the greater One lives in us.

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

We are truly designed by God to be more than conquerors and overcomers. One of the ways the devil fights against this is by discovering legal rights to land curses from our bloodlines. Through these curses, we are weakened and made to be defeated. If we can see the legal claim of curses be annulled, we can see their power broken. This will allow us to operate in the strength of the greater One in our life.

Another sign of a curse is repetitive attacks. This was what initially convinced me of a curse operating against me. It seemed that we were suffering an onslaught on every side. It was as if all of hell had been unleashed against us. It was really likened to Isaiah 59:19. It was as if flood waters of demonic powers were suddenly coming from every side.

So shall they fear

The name of the Lord from the west,

And His glory from the rising of the sun;

When the enemy comes in like a flood,

The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.

The enemy coming in like a flood depicts an all-out attack of forces of darkness. David spoke of this in Psalm 18:4 when he described the attacks as a flood.

The pangs of death surrounded me,

And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.

Notice that David talked about the fear associated with the floods of ungodliness against him. This is what seemed to happen with us. I had always been one who could endure. I would gird myself up and just fight and endure through anything that had come against us. Yet suddenly, before I could get through what was opposing us, something else would come. It kept piling on. Thing after thing piled on until it brought great weariness and fatigue. I then discovered it was the devil’s discovering of bloodline issues that was allowing the unprecedented attack. Literally, in an instantaneous way, once the bloodline issues were legally revoked, all the attacks stopped. The floods dried up and the standard of the Lord was lifted against the enemy. The devil lost the legal right to bring attacks based on a curse he had legally landed.

Another sign of a curse is aggression. It will not stop until you stop it. Even though we have been delivered from the curse of the law, Deuteronomy 28:45 gives us understanding of how a curse operates. It is very aggressive and will come after you and all you love.

Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you.

Notice that a curse comes upon us, pursues us, overtakes us, and destroys us. This means you can’t outlast a curse. If it has legally found a right to land, it will not stop until you stop it. We see this in the days of Elisha when he broke the rights of the curse against Jericho. In 2 Kings 2:19 we find an otherwise very pleasant place to live operating under a curse. As soon as Elisha receives the mantle of Lord from Elijah, the men of the city petition him to undo the curse.

Then the men of the city said to Elisha, “Please notice, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the ground barren.”

The word barren is the Hebrew word shakil. It means “to miscarry and to bereave.” This wasn’t a matter of just some bad-tasting water. It was causing miscarriage, premature death, and bereavement. This was a result of the curse Joshua had set upon Jericho when it was destroyed several hundred years before. Joshua 6:26 rehearses this curse.

Then Joshua charged them at that time, saying, “Cursed be the man before the Lord who rises up and builds this city Jericho; he shall lay its foundation with his firstborn, and with his youngest he shall set up its gates.”

This was a curse of death and bereavement set upon Jericho. Even though it was a very pleasant place, this curse was bringing sorrow and pain. This is why the men of Jericho were pressing upon the newly anointed Elisha to undo the curse that Joshua had set into place. The Bible says that Elisha did as they desired. Second Kings 2:21-22 shows Elisha undoing the curse that had plagued this place for years.

Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’” So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.

Notice that he went to the source of the problem. The source of curses is usually in our bloodline. When we go to the source and undo the legal claim, the curse will end. Its aggression and pursuit of us will end and be no more. This is exactly what happened to me and my family. The aggressive attack stopped and ceased. It’s legal claims to operate were removed.

One other thing that can be a sign of a curse is no prayer can seem to stop it. Again, this is what happened with us. I had always had a place of power with God in prayer. There wasn’t anything that had come against us that I couldn’t see defeated through persistent prayer. However, for about a three-year period it seemed that my prayers had no more power. Things were caving in on top of us, and I couldn’t stop it. It was getting worse and worse with no hope in sight.

It was at this point that I discovered the Courts of Heaven. I was to later recognize that Jesus had put prayer in three dimensions in the book of Luke. He had spoken of approaching God as Father, Friend, and Judge. This is all revealed in my book by this name. However, I found out that when we approach God as Judge according to Luke 18:1-8, we step into a spiritual dimension called the Courts of Heaven. In this place, we can petition the Courts and the Judge and ask for legal verdicts. These verdicts will revoke the right of curse to operate against us. This is what I was discovering. When I found the Courts of Heaven and how to go before them, my prayers began to have greater effect than ever. Curses were annulled. Bloodline issues were erased. The rights of the devil as my legal opponent were revoked. Our lives began to come back to peace and blessing. Plus, the impact of our lives exponentially increased. All because the legal right for curses to operate was removed!

Lord, as we stand before Your Courts we thank You that all You did on the cross has legally revoked the right of curses to operate. As I stand before You, may any legal claim in my life or from my bloodline be silenced that would give satan the right to land curses. I ask this Court that curses lose the right to come upon us, pursue us, overtake us, and/or destroy us. Let the curses looking for a legal right to land now be denied and dismissed.

May my life and family be freed from any place of cursing. May we walk in the blessing of the Lord and experience His goodness at every turn. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
