4 Steps to Defeat Demonic Government Principalities from the Courts of Heaven

To see the mountain of government reformed there are four distinct strategies we should employ.

First, we must recognize that principalities target government because of the power to influence all of society through this mountain. When the powers of darkness known as principalities can bring governmental officials into alignment with themselves, they can then orchestrate their diabolical intentions in the earth realm. This occurred during the reign of Herod when he put the apostle James to death, then sought to do the same to the apostle Peter. Through the prayers of the church, this scheme was dismantled. Acts 12:1-3 shows how the devil used this ruler to work this travesty against the kingdom of God in the earth:

Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church. Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also. Now it was during the Days of Unleavened Bread.

Herod came into agreement with the principality so that this entity worked through the government mountain to resist the kingdom of God in the earth through the apostles. Again, because of the positioning of government in society and its ability to influence, it will be targeted by the powers of the devil. When we realize the battle we are in for the government and what is at stake, it will heighten our commitment to seeing this mountain reformed.

We must also operate as the ecclesia or governmental people of God and pray. Through the church or the ecclesia of God, we have the power to bring down the principalities and free government from their rule. Ecclesia is the Greek term that Jesus chose to use to describe His people of government in the earth. Matthew 16:18 says this church or ecclesia is what Jesus would build:

And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

The ecclesias of Jesus’ day were the governmental people of cities or societies who made decisions that determined what their cities or societies looked like. The term ecclesia is a secular term and not a religious one. If we understand this, we realize that the government of God through His church can exercise influence over the natural governments of the earth through the spiritual realm and prayer. Of course, we do this through the Courts of Heaven. As the ecclesia we stand in the legal realm of the spirit and undo any claim being made against us. This allows God’s will to be done in the earth rather than what satan desires.

This did happen in the book of Acts as the church or ecclesia prayed. In Acts 12:12 we find the governmental people of God exercising their authority in the house of Mary:

So, when he had considered this, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying.

Many were praying for the release of Peter. The word many means “sufficient or enough.” So regardless of the number that was there, there were plenty in the spirit realm to accomplish the task. As a result of this expression of the ecclesia praying, an angel was sent to deliver Peter out of jail, and this same angel later smote Herod because of the judgment against a corrupt governmental official who was impeding God’s will in the earth. Acts 12:23 shows how the judgment of God was rendered and the government mountain was altered because of the prayer power of the ecclesia of God:

Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died.

God struck down and removed corruption from government because of the prayers of the church. We must know that as we pray, powers are broken, the heavens are rearranged, and the way is made for God’s will to be done in the earth.

As we prepare to invade the government mountain, we must be committed to voting. The casting of our vote is not just letting our voice be heard, it is a statement of conviction in the spirit realm. Believers must be motivated to involve themselves in the political process if we are to reclaim the mountain of government. We must shake free from lethargy and take back what belongs to the kingdom of God. As part of Jesus’ governmental people called the ecclesia, we are to legislate in the spirit through prayer, but then implement the victories we have won in the spirit into the natural. Among other things in the government realm, this means we need to vote. Voting is an enforcing of the victories we have warred for in the spirit.

Reclaiming the government mountain will involve preparing and placing reformers into governmental position. These reformers must come forth from the coming generations so that we can begin to infiltrate this mountain. It is impossible to pray well enough that we have no need for reformers with a kingdom agenda in their hearts. We must see these people who are called to the government mountain take their place at every level. This will produce a reformed mountain of government that will empower us. Matthew 13:33 speaks of the effects of the kingdom of God being like leaven. You hide it in meal and pretty soon the entire lump is leavened out:

Another parable He spoke to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.”

If we can get the right reformers prepared and in place as leaven within the government mountain, we will see this mountain and all the others taken for the kingdom. If we can get the reformers in place, then the host of heaven and the Spirit of God will be able to work their agenda through these people instead of the powers of darkness. The reformation of this mountain requires a new breed of leaders who can implement the will of God in this realm. Producing reformers is one of the greatest challenges that we face. As we engage ourselves in this endeavor, we will see God’s blessing on it—reformers placed and the mountain of government beginning to reflect the splendor of God’s kingdom. This mountain will be a fashioning element into all of society as it is reformed and begins to take on the convictions of God in its function in the earth.
