Receive Prophetic Blueprints from Heaven: How to Prophesy Breakthrough & Achieve Results
In my journey of hearing God’s voice and prophetic ministry, I have always desired to prophesy in a way that releases blueprints from Heaven.
My aim is to deliver keys that open doors to God’s plans and purposes manifesting on earth. Because the prophetic opened doors in my own life that I couldn’t have even fathomed, I want to do the same for others. Plus I’m a futurist—that’s all about action. Back in the day there was this slang phrase, “Don’t talk about it, be about it,” and for some reason that one had an impact on me.
Later in my twenties when I worked for a record label, I remember my boss once said to me, “Ideas are a dime a dozen, but execution is priceless.” That hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn’t know the Lord yet and I didn’t understand weighted words or things being highlighted. Looking back, I see the golden thread that is pointing to what makes up my DNA. I may be a visionary and I love to envision the future, but I can’t stay in vision. I want action that pulls it in. I want to be about it!
It was only natural that I would start to feel this tug to want to release direction in my prophetic words. I wanted to help people get from A to B. Now at my church we have a rule for prophesying on the prayer line and that is “no directional words”; it is an important guardrail to have. Especially when you are taking your first steps in the prophetic.
However, this hunger to release keys for people to run with kept at me. Later, when I looked to Scripture, I kept seeing specific directions being given.
Elisha’s Example
In 2 Kings 5:7-14, we see a powerful example when Naaman, a commander of the Syrian army, sought healing for his leprosy. Elisha provided a very specific and seemingly strange instruction: “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.” Despite Naaman’s initial anger and disbelief, following this directive resulted in his miraculous healing.
2 Kings 5:7-14 (NIV)
As soon as the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his robes and said, “Am I God? Can I kill and bring back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to pick a quarrel with me!”
When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his robes, he sent him this message: “Why have you torn your robes? Have the man come to me and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.” So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha’s house. Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.”
But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be cleansed?” So he turned and went off in a rage.
Naaman’s servants went to him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘wash and be cleansed.’” So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.
Elijah’s Example
In 1 Kings 17:8-16, God instructed Elijah to go to Zarephath, where a widow would provide for him. Despite her own dire situation, the widow followed Elijah’s directive, resulting in a miraculous provision of food during a famine.
1 Kings 17:8-16 (NIV)
Then the word of the Lord came to him: “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have directed a widow there to supply you with food.” So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?” As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me, please, a piece of bread.”
“As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.”
Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small loaf of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘the jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land.’”
She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.
Hezekiah’s Example
In 2 Kings 20:1-7, the prophet Isaiah instructed King Hezekiah to prepare a poultice of figs to heal a boil, promising that God would add 15 years to his life. Hezekiah obeyed, and his health was restored.
2 Kings 20:1-7 (NIV)
In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”
Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’”
Then Isaiah said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered.
Joshua’s Example
In Joshua 6:2-5, God gave Joshua specific instructions to march around the city of Jericho once for six days and seven times on the seventh day, with priests blowing trumpets. Joshua obeyed, and the walls of Jericho collapsed, allowing the Israelites to capture the city.
Joshua 6:2-5 (NIV)
Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.”
David’s Example
In 2 Samuel 5:23-25, God instructed David not to attack the Philistines directly but to circle around behind them and wait for the sound of marching in the tops of the trees. David followed this instruction, leading to a successful surprise attack on the Philistines.
2 Samuel 5:23-25 (NIV)
So David inquired of the Lord, and he answered, “Do not go straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the poplar trees. As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move quickly, because that will mean the Lord has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.” So David did as the Lord commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.
These examples demonstrate how God’s specific directions, when followed, resulted in significant victories and miraculous outcomes. Looking at these examples, I get so excited! God does give directions! Directions that lead to healing! To destiny! To victory! Reading these ignites the dreamer in me! I dream about releasing words that will bring blueprints from Heaven to earth, that will catapult people into their destiny, that will unlock a solution to a world problem that will cause people to demand in awe, “Who is your God?”
But here’s the thing. You generally don’t start with those kind of words. You know where a good place to start is? Yourself. It’s a great primer, a way to show God, “I’m listening and I’m here for this!” Start asking God how you can partner with Him in your upcoming months regarding specific situations. Write down what you hear and then do it, test it out.
If you’re not sure where to start, I have some ideas for you. First, allow me to lower the stakes. Don’t start with big moves on your finances or job or if you should relocate. Begin by asking God what Scriptures will have a key for you in that month, and then read them. Ask Him out on a date and what He would like to do and write that down, then go do that specific thing with Him. Keep in mind that you can always ask Him anything. And you can always bring any inquiry to Him, but for the sake of this exercise, we are exploring hearing Him specifically for blueprints that we can take action on.
The goal is to sharpen our eyes, ears, and senses to His voice when it comes to directions, then partner with them and measure how well we are receiving His voice for words like this. We are building up to the point where we can prophesy solutions that cause the world to say, “THAT MUST BE GOD!”
I have more than one agenda for writing this book. The first is this: You need to hear God for yourself. Pursue the intimacy of Him speaking to you. This is something I fight for often. Let my own warning light comfort you in knowing you are not the only one struggling with this.
But there is more. Before I had a radical encounter with the Holy Spirit in Bangkok in 2014, my experience of Christians was that they were nice people—and at the time, in my opinion, boring people. I didn’t like their music or their movies. They felt like heavily edited humans to me, people who didn’t do certain things. This, of course, is unfair to many believers. It was a judgment from afar from a person whose ears and eyes weren’t open to the truth.
I had also never encountered prophetic people until I was 34 years old. When I experienced people who were filled with the Holy Spirit, following Christ to the point of absolute risk, watching them pray for people, and hearing them speak life over people, I was transformed. I met renegades who lived out their faith boldly. Listen—you weren’t born to be nice people; you were born to be sons and daughters of God.
It’s time to step forward and take a risk by releasing what you hear God speaking to you! Open your mouth. Miracles can exist through your hands. Timelines can be shifted through your prayers. The living resurrection power of God is within you. It’s time to do something with it. We need to know His voice to move with Him.
I want to move as soon as I hear His whisper. I want the world to see there is more! I’ll never forget the first time I experienced His presence. Suddenly, everything around me felt different, filled with possibility and wonder. It was like I went from living in a black-and-white movie to a Marvel movie. The mundane became miraculous, and the ordinary transformed into the extraordinary. This is the life God calls us to—a life brimming with His supernatural presence.
God has a solution for every problem. What if, by building your faith in hearing Him for actions in your own life and measuring the results, you start to understand His voice better? Soon your faith will be built, and you will be more emboldened to hear Him for larger plans. Imagine, in an instant, knowing the exact location of a missing child, receiving a strategy that brings miraculous healing to someone, or uncovering an idea that revolutionizes an entire industry and transforms lives across the globe.
What if you could disciple nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18-20). Let your light shine (Matthew 5:14-16) because all of creation eagerly awaits the sons and daughters of God to be revealed (Romans 8:19). This is our calling. Let’s step into it boldly and with purpose. But first, we start small (Zechariah 4:10). What is the key that He is releasing to you that will unlock the door in front of you?
