Adam Ate and Died. Jesus Fasted and Lived!

Many believers across the globe recognize that we live in unprecedented times in the last of the last days.

In the last few years it is like the earth has tossed and turned like a drunk man as many unexpected things have sought to disrupt all forms of normalcy in people’s lives. Though there has always been prayer and fasting, it appears that due to the rapid release of things in the earth, more people have charged into 2022 with this spiritual discipline. Every year our church calls for 21 days of prayer and fasting and though we always have a great response because it has been cultivated, this year almost every person in our church is fasting and praying for souls, divine health and supernatural breakthrough!

Holy Spirit is stirring the hearts of His people to recognize the need to be armed with the authentic spiritual weapons of prayer and fasting. It is like a supernatural surge of conviction has rested on the body of Christ where suddenly there is a determination to get spiritually armed and dangerous through fasting and prayer that they might do damage to the kingdom of hell. The supernatural surge of conviction to fast and pray is coming equipped with a Holy Spirit led persuasion in the heart of the believer that they must get back to biblical fasting.  Not the lukewarm, compromised, sugar coated fasting that has infiltrated the earth that doesn’t involve abstaining from food. Fasting in the Hebrew means to “Close Your Mouth” and to abstain from food. The enemy knows that there is power in cutting away the flesh, pushing the plate away and pressing into God through prayer. All the demonic forces of hell know that biblical fasting and prayer will produce kingdom results, therefore the enemy has attempted to cultivate a new way of fasting. The new unbiblical compromised way of fasting is to fast entertainment or social media. Many say,” I’m fasting Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, SnapChat, and movies” and the list goes on and on but many times does not include the biblical fast of abstaining from food. Though you can cut away your flesh in many different ways this type of discipline will never replace biblical prayer and fasting.

The time is now for a generation rise up and return to biblical fasting and prayer that they might be spiritually armed by God to rattle the gates of hell and rip the hinges off in the last days for the glory of God. I want to remind you that in the beginning Adam refused to fast the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the end result was that he was not able to deal with the enemy properly because he bowed his knee to satan. Jesus on the other hand fasted for 40 days and was spiritually armed and dangerous to overcome all the attacks of the devil. Here is the long story made short, Adam ate and eventually died, Jesus fasted and lived.

Genesis 3:6 says, “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.”

Matthew 4:1-4 says, “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”

I want to remind you that Jesus never said “IF you fast” He said “WHEN you fast!” Biblical fasting and prayer was never something that was supposed to be optional in the Kingdom of God. Fasting and prayer is not about whether you feel like it because fasting and prayer is the weapon that afflicts your flesh and calls for your spirit man to rise up as a soldier dressed for battle. If you desire to cut away your flesh and walk in things of the Spirit until the power of faith destroys the power of unbelief in your life then prayer and fasting is a nonnegotiable.

Matthew 6:16 says, “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

Ezra 8:21 says, “Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions.”

Fasting, Faith and Freedom In 2022

We must never forget that Adam ate, bowed his knee to satan, and would later die. Jesus fasted, destroyed the works of the devil, and lived.

I believe one of the primary keys to being able to destroy the works of the devil in the last days is walking by faith. Fasting is the ally of faith that cuts away the flesh and builds your faith in the Word of God…

The Power of Living a Fasted Life

God is raising up a generation of people that are pursuing the heart of God through fasting and prayer.

It is time to push the plate away and cut away the flesh that our Spirit man might take the leadership role in all aspects of life. Those who are led by the Spirit are children of God.
