An Unrelenting Hunger to See The Kingdom Break In!

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17 ESV)

Renewing the mind begins with repentance.

That is the gateway to return to our original assignment on earth. Jesus said, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” To many Christians, repent refers to having an alter call where people come forward and weep at the altar and get right with God. That is a legitimate expression of repentance, but it’s not what the word repentance means. Re means to go back. Pent is like the penthouse, the top floor of a building. Repent, then, means to go back to God’s perspective on reality. And in that perspective, there is renewal, a reformation that affects our intellect, our emotions, and every part of our lives.

Thank You, God, that You are transforming every aspect of my life. I want to see the world the way You do. Bring to mind any area of my life where repentance is needed so that I can experience Your Kingdom fully.

Jesus said that “unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). What does that mean? Jesus was not saying that we would have visions of Heaven, although I know that happens. He was speaking more practically. He was saying that when our minds are renewed, we will see the Kingdom displayed and proven as He did in His earthly ministry. That what it means to “see” the Kingdom of Heaven. Our souls long to see such things. We have inside of us an unrelenting hunger to watch the Kingdom break into this realm—and not just to watch but to participate, to become the connecting point and gateway for God’s power.

I know some days feel far away from experiencing My Kingdom, but I am closer than you think. Release your pain and disappointment to Me. Let Me carry them. Let Me show you the glory I long to reveal on the earth.

Bill Johnson is the Senior Pastor of Bethel Church. Bill is a fifth generation pastor with a rich heritage in the things of the Spirit. This apostolic network has crossed denominational lines in building relationships that enable church leaders to walk in both purity and power. The present move of God has brought Bill into a deeper understanding of the phrase, "on earth as it is in heaven." Heaven is the model for our life and ministry. Jesus lived with this principle by only doing what He saw His Father doing. Learning to recognize the Holy Spirit's presence, and how to follow His lead will enable us to do the works of Christ, destroying the works of the devil. Healing and deliverance must become the common expression of this gospel of power once again. Bill and the Bethel Church family have taken on this theme for life and ministry. Healings, ranging from cancer to broken bones, to learning disorders and emotional healing, happen with regularity. This is the children's bread. And these works of God are not limited to revival meetings. The church is learning how to take this anointing to the schools, workplace, and neighborhoods with similar results. Bill teaches that we owe the world an encounter with God, and that a Gospel without power is not the Gospel that Jesus preached.
