What Christmas Has to do With Your Destiny
The Christmas season is a special time to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We recognize His advent on the earth as God Almighty in bodily form. As a baby, Jesus entered our world with a divine plan and purpose for all humanity. Jesus touched many lives as He walked among us for approximately thirty-three years, healing the sick, casting out demons, raising the dead, and preaching the message of the Kingdom.
However, behind the scenes, did you ever think about the activities of Heaven that were happening in the planning stages that led to the fulfillment of this event that we call Christmas?
In eternity, God has established His throne in Heaven. He is from a timeless realm that we call the spirit realm, and therefore He has no limitations. God’s limitless power is unlike the limitations of human beings. It is hard to comprehend the fact that the Lord has always existed and will continue to exist forever. Due to His eternal existence, the Lord’s throne has always been and will still be, the seat of power for all creation. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit were all together in a preexistent state in glory long before humans ever existed. Even holy angels existed before there was a human race. The Almighty is quoted in Job as asking:
Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have an understanding. Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God [angels] shouted for joy? (Job 38:4-7 NKJV)
The angels in Heaven have been dispatched to serve with and for us in this last great move of His Spirit on the earth! Angels were created to implement God’s plan for each one of us. Just as they were there to announce the glorious birth of Jesus (see Luke 2). They are part of the preexisting Kingdom of God and therefore work with us to help fulfill all that God has planned for us while on this earth.
To fully comprehend the power that angels have, we must accept the fact that God has an eternal existence and Kingdom that is above all. In God Almighty’s preexistence, He established a throne, and it’s from His powerful throne that He rules the universe with great authority. The purpose of angels has always been to fulfill God’s redemptive plans for each of us. The Lord establishes those plans from His throne, which is the seat of authority in the heavenlies.
Because of God’s foreknowledge, He knew that when He created man and woman that they would choose to disobey and eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and fall away. The Trinity met and decided beforehand to provide redemption for humanity through Jesus Christ. Jesus was chosen to be born of a woman to purchase humans in their fallen state:
For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. There shall be no end to the increase of His government and of peace, [He shall rule] on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from that time forward and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this (Isaiah 9:6-7 Amplified Bible).
God has a government of righteousness and justice that invites all whom He has created to serve Him and be under His loving care. The angels understand the authority that God has over all of creation; but humankind, in the fallen state, did not understand the need for a Savior. No one will ever be able to usurp or overtake God’s authority and drive Him out of the seat of His power. Angels have been sent throughout the universe to enforce God’s rule, and they will continue until what the apostle Paul spoke of in the Book of Romans comes to pass:
I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God (Romans 8:18-19 NKJV).
We can see as Christians that we are to yield to the Holy Spirit and allow His powerful work to usher us into the glory of the Father. Jesus shared in this glory with the Father before the universes were lit up with light. Jesus said, “So my Father, restore me back to the glory that we shared together when we were face-to-face before the universe was created” (John 17:5 TPT). We are to share in the same glory as sons and daughters of God when that day comes because that eternal weight of glory is in us.
The King James Version of the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:17, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” The glory of the Father that was upon Jesus will be manifested in us in the latter days as the body of Christ is built up in the unity of the faith.
God’s plan was that Jesus would replace the sacrifices of the Old Testament law. Jesus, through His obedience, has taken our relationship with the Father to the original intimate level that was intended from the beginning, before the fall.
When Jesus the Messiah came into the world he said, “Since your ultimate desire was not another animal sacrifice, you have clothed me with a body that I might offer myself instead! Multiple burnt offerings and sin-offerings cannot satisfy your justice.” So I said to you, “God—I will be the One to go and do your will, to fulfill all that is written of me in your Word!” (Hebrews 10:5-7 TPT)
This salvation was planned for us by the Trinity from the foundation of the world because of God’s love for us (see Revelation 13:8). We can rest assured that God’s plan for humankind will be accomplished if we will acknowledge what He has done for us and agree to participate in the divine nature as mentioned in 2 Peter. We have the ability through powerful and effective promises of the Word of God, to encounter the glory of God in our lives.
As a result of this, he has given you magnificent promises that are beyond all price, so that through the power of these tremendous promises you can experience partnership with the divine nature, by which you have escaped the corrupt desires that are of the world (2 Peter 1:4 TPT).
The apostle Peter says that we have a partnership in the divine nature of God, as we have through Him, escaped the corruption in this world. All of this is because Jesus, the Son of God and the Son of Man, came to visit us beginning in a humble manager. He grew up and walked among us as an example of how to live in the power of the Spirit. Finally, after suffering and dying on the Cross, Jesus finished His conquest with a mighty ascension to the right hand of the Father. He is absolutely the victorious Son of God!
Are You Ready?
Are you ready to walk in this supernatural way of life that was purchased at a great price through redemption? God has plans for you to walk in great authority and power.
Even our very words should not reflect human wisdom, but we should have power and demonstration in the Holy Spirit in everything we do (see 1 Corinthians 2:4). During this Christmas season, let us reflect on what God has accomplished for us in this life and planned out for us before the universe was first lit up. He truly loves humanity and has demonstrated that love through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus will receive His reward for redeeming us on that day when we all stand before Him and worship Him as the Lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world (see Revelation 13:8).
Jesus is your Victorious Warrior! He has paved the way for you to encounter the glory of the Father. As you reflect on what Christmas means to us during this season, be reminded that He came for you and wants all of us to join Him in the holy celebration of His birth. However, there is so much more that He has accomplished for you. In His preexistent state, Jesus wrote a book about you before you were born and planned out all your days (see Psalm 139:16). Right now, angels are reading what is written in your book and are commanded by the Lord to help you fulfill all that has been written about you.
The Lord is saying to you now by the Holy Spirit, that today, you can walk in the power of Jesus’ life on this earth. The same mighty power that rose Jesus from the dead has been given to you (see Romans 8:11). Although He was laid in a humble manger, in a mighty display of power He will return again one day as the Lion of the tribe of Judah.
[We are writing] about the Word of Life [in] Him Who existed from the beginning, Whom we have heard, Whom we have seen with our [own] eyes, Whom we have gazed upon [for ourselves] and have touched with our [own] hands. And the Life [an aspect of His being] was revealed (made manifest, demonstrated), and we saw [as eyewitnesses] and are testifying to and declare to you the Life, the eternal Life [in Him] Who already existed with the Father and Who [actually] was made visible (was revealed) to us [His followers]. What we have seen and [ourselves] heard, we are also telling you, so that you too may [d]realize and enjoy fellowship as partners and partakers with us. And [this] fellowship that we have [which is a distinguishing mark of Christians] is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah) (1 John 1:1-3 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition).
We are destined to encounter His glory in the deep, intimate fellowship that comes from holy worship. The world doesn’t know Him as His children do. As you worship the King of kings this Christmas, pray that you may have a spirit of wisdom and revelation come upon you. Believe that in this season, you will encounter the revelation of the glory that is in the Father and has shared with the Son, and now with His children through salvation.
I have personally beheld Jesus in glory, and this encounter has forever changed me. He is so worthy and yet He wants us to be with Him in that same glory with the Father. At this moment, angels are worshipping Him, and the saints who have gone before us fall down and adore Him.
Be encouraged as you celebrate His coming and know that your worship is accepted. As you reach out to others, see that you are the Savior’s hand of compassion to a lost and dying world who desperately needs the revelation of God’s love.
Reflection
Here’s what I feel the Spirit of the Lord is saying to you in this season: “Though I have come to you as a humble servant in a manger, I left you as a triumphant King and gave you full rights to the earth. I have sent you the mighty Holy Spirit to empower you in word and in deed. In My name, take back what satan has stolen from humanity. Drive satan out by healing the sick, raising the dead, and preaching the Good News to everyone. I will come back for you, and you shall be with Me forever. You shall rule and reign as kings with Me, forever. I have made you priests and kings of the Most High God, and you shall see great victory. Nothing shall be impossible to you for I am with you as a Mighty Warrior.”
